Karbo was right about this being a special day for me. I am an avid golfer and have been for 5 years now. So when we decided to go to Scotland as part of our RTW trip, I immediately looked into the possibility of playing a round at the "home of golf."
We took a day trip from Edinburgh to the small town of St. Andrews, which is not only known for its world class golf courses, but also for its university, University of St. Andrews. That is where Prince William and Kate Middleton first met, became flatmates, and then started dating!
Anyway...back to the important stuff, golf. St. Andrews Links consist of seven golf courses, with The Old Course being the most famous, and therefore the most expensive. I chose The Eden Course, which was more within my price range, and it was challenging enough to be worth the 40GBP green fee.
It wasn't a particularly busy day at the course, so I didn't get grouped with anyone else. Karbo stepped in as my caddie and walked all 18 holes with me so I wouldn't be completely alone. She even helped me read a few greens and tend the flag for me. It was a very windy day (like most days at St. Andrews) and Karbo was a good sport throughout the entire round despite the howling wind. Her company made a huge difference because I don't think I would've enjoyed the round as much if I didn't have her there to share those unforgettable moments with me.
