I've had a lot of people ask me how I packed for a whole year abroad so I've decided to write down what I initially packed - please note that this list is untested! I'll post updates as I throw items out / acquire new items.
Where possible, I've also included the labels of the clothes I packed. Can you tell I'm a Vancouverite with the amount of Lululemon and Aritzia clothing I brought with me??
Tops
3 tshirts (1 TNA, 2 randoms)
3 tank tops (2 TNA, 1 H&M)
2 camisoles
2 sweaters (both Wilfred)
1 wool base layer (Icebreaker)
1 hoodie (Lululemon)
1 fleece (Uniqlo, this was chucked and crossed off the list on the way to the airport in Vancouver)
1 rainjacket (Columbia)

Toiletries
Other than your typical toiletry items (moisturizer, qtips, etc.), here is where I had the most difficulty.
I wear contacts...daily contacts. 365 days x 2 eyes = 730 individual contact lenses! I know there are options out there for bi-weekly or monthly contacts but I've been wearing dailies for years and I also want the best for my eyes. I packed a 4 month supply for the first leg of our trip and will re-supply when I meet up with my parents in Hong Kong

The final product...
And here's everything all packed up into the backpack very generously lent by my friend, Jess. It's a Deuter Futura 45 L + 10L.
For a carry-on, I'll be using an everyday Swiss Army daypack.
I was aiming for a maximum weight of 20lbs but the whole thing ended up weighing around 28lbs. We'll see what actually ends up making it around the world with me!
