Posted by Jason On the 12th we took a very long 10-hour train ride from Budapest to Ljubljana, Slovenia. It was a day train so we spent the majority of the ride watching Modern Family. We actually almost missed our train because Karbo decided, with 5 minutes to spare, that she wanted to buy a box of noodles for the ride. It turns out the Chinese wok place at the Budapest train station has one of the slowest stir-fryers we've ever seen! We ended up having to run for our train again but we made it so all's well that ends well.

Posted by Karbo We arrived in Budapest on the night of the 8th and checked into our Airbnb apartment, which was between the 7th and 8th districts in Pest. On the 9th we went on a free walking tour around Budapest. There's no Sandeman walking tour in Budapest so we went with Free Walking Tours, which follows the same concept. The tour was very good and we learned a lot about the city: for example, it's pronounced BudapeSHt; Buda lies to the west of the Danube river while Pest lies to the east; Buda is covered in hills while Pest is completely flat; and the layout of Pest is much more organized than Buda.
Posted by Jason *Happy New Year everyone! We wish you good health and good fortune in 2014. Thank you for taking the time to read our blog, and we hope you continue to enjoy our adventure in the new year! :) We arrived in Vienna in the evening of the 3rd. After settling into our Airbnb apartment near Rennweg station, we had a late dinner at Dong Hai (East Ocean) Chinese restaurant nearby. We both agree that is the best Chinese food we've had in Europe so far, and the service was very attentive too!

We left Munich for Salzburg on Halloween. We didn't realize it was a long weekend and ended up having to stand on the train. We're glad things worked out the way they did though, because we met a new friend, Jess, during the ride. :) |
